NeoGraft® Hair Transplant
NeoGraft® is a state-of-the-art hair restoration technology. As a semi-automated system, NeoGraft® enables greater precision. This allows the attending physician to focus on the aspects of transplant that give it a truly natural appearance – such as the angle of the hair strand, orientation, and depth of the follicle. This fine control gives doctors unprecedented ability to mimic the natural lay of the lost hair.
What is NeoGraft®?
The NeoGraft® hair transplant system is a machine-assisted follicular unit extraction (FUE) transplant that allows greater precision than a human doctor alone can provide. It is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the extraction of individual hair follicles using a suction-based method rather than patches of hair or areas of scalp.
These single hairs are then transplanted to the area experiencing hair loss with both hair shaft and follicle intact, using a specially developed tool that allows total control over the depth of insertion. This means that the transplanted hair will successfully grow in its new location.
NeoGraft® hair restoration can also be used in areas other than just the scalp. Hair thinning or hair loss to facial hair – eyebrows, beard, mustache – can have a major impact on both one’s appearance and one’s self esteem. NeoGraft provides the most advanced solution available in the restoration of facial hair.
Is NeoGraft® Better Than FUE?
While technically, NeoGraft® is a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) process, its partial automation makes it a vastly more effective and efficient transplant method.
The specialized transplantation system allows a greater degree of precision in both the extraction and implantation process than prior manual techniques. This results in a much shorter procedure, and a more natural-looking result. Especially when compared to earlier Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) methods (sometimes referred to as the “strip method”). By transplanting individual follicles, linear scarring – which is common in FUT procedures – is practically nonexistent.
How Painful Is NeoGraft®?
NeoGraft® has the distinct advantage of causing little to no pain. Slight pain is usually experienced when the numbing agent is applied at the start of the procedure.
During the healing process, there may be discomfort (usually comparable to a sunburn in intensity) and typically treated easily with over-the-counter pain relievers. This pain fades rapidly, usually within a week to ten days. Along with this lowered pain comes a correspondingly brief recovery period, and most people return to work within one to three days.
